Master Shi Yan Chan is a 34th Generation Warrior Monk from the Song Shan Shaolin Temple in Henan China. Shifu entered the temple at the age of 6 and mastered the Shaolin curriculum by the age of 11. Shifu is one of only a handful of Shaolin monks who now reside and teach Shaolin Kung Fu in the U.S. on behalf of the Shaolin Temple. Shifu operates the Shaolin Temple Cultural Center in Houston, TX.

 

 

 

Scott C. Pettengill
Scott C. Pettengill (Shi Heng Ji)  is the Chief instructor at the Shaolin Temple Cultural Center in Austin, TX (STCCATX). Scott is a disciple of Master Shi Yan Chan, and is a 35th Generation Shaolin Temple Warrior Disciple. He has studied both Southern and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. In addition, Scott is also a gold medalist in both national and international competition. 






Liath Appleton
Tai chi instructor and assistant instructor of traditional forms. With more than 20 years of training under her belt, Liath has a kungfu background in Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar and Shaolin, and has been training at STCCATX since 2009. Her Taichi background is in both weapons and open hand forms, including Yang, Chen, Shaolin, Wudang and Bagua.





Mike Forcucci
An assistant instructor of traditional forms at the STCCATX, Mike has trained under Shi Heng Ji for over a decade. He has also trained at the Shaolin Temple during his tenure with the STCCAT






Sean Gagliardi
Sean began his martial arts training with Bak Sil Lum – a martial art that traces its lineage to the Shaolin Temple. Now an STCCATX instructor, Sean has been training under Shi Heng Ji for more than 10 years, and has been accepted as a disciple of Shi Yan Chan.






Jennifer Weitz
Jennifer teaches modern wushu, and has trained in a variety of martial styles including Kali, JKD, Capoeira and Muy Thai. She became grand champion in advanced modern wushu forms at the 2013 Legends of Kung Fu/Chin Woo Tournament, and has studied traditional Kung Fu at Shaolin Temple, China.
