What to Wear
For your first class, please wear loose clothing and athletic shoes. Water is available at the school, but you may want to bring your own water bottle.
Our uniforms are available for an additional cost, and will be discussed in person. Uniforms are expected for testing, workshops, and performance, but we do not require our full uniform for classes.
Shoes:
We recommend flat-soled shoes, not running shoes that have an angled edge. The angled edge can result in ankle sprains. Traditionally, Shaolin martial artists use Feiyue brand shoes like these in either black or white:

Feiyue is inexpensive and can be found on most martial arts supply websites. We also have a limited supply available to purchase at the school.
Testing
There are nine levels within the Shaolin Temple curriculum, and testing is scheduled regularly throughout the year. For students in the kungfu program, testing is required before being allowed to learn new material. As a student in either program, you will be learning at your own pace and moving up to the next level when your instructor feels you are ready to do so. The cost for testing is $65 .
